What is the theory behind this CBT Laddering Worksheet?

Laddering is a technique used in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to identify one’s core beliefs by questioning one’s thoughts. These are deeply-rooted, ‘all or nothing’ blanket statements about the self others or the world in general that one believes to be absolute truths. These core beliefs unconsciously guide all thought processes and how one chooses to see the world around them.
