What is the theory behind the Fight, Flight, or Freeze Worksheet?

The human body’s nervous system is wired to react in one of these three different ways when faced with any dangerous situation. In the face of an oncoming potential threat, it can either paralyse an individual or prepare them to fight it or prompt them to escape somewhere or avoid it. People can experience varying combos of the three or maybe inclined more towards one response than the other. 

How will the worksheet help? 

This worksheet will provide information about the fight, flight or freeze response to help clients evaluate which response they are more inclined towards. Identifying how they majorly react to life’s stressors, anxieties and fears can help in determining the right coping strategies in order to deal with them.

How to use the worksheet?

This worksheet can be used after a thorough discussion on the three human stress responses. Instruct the client to read through the description of each and recall their past experiences to determine which style of responding resonates the most closely with their own. DIscuss the client’s responses in the session.
