Video & audio overview of the worksheet

What is the theory behind the worksheet?

Narcotics Anonymous (NA) and Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) have created and use a 12 step process to support recovery from addiction. This process is contained within a self-reflective framework that is supported by frequent group meetings, mentorship, and daily engagement with the work.

The 12 step program does use a spiritual belief to help the individuals within the process. However, this is not a prescriptive belief, but rather one based on the understanding that there is a higher power than yourself – whatever that may be for you.

The process works at your own pace and encourages you to invest as much effort as you commit to your sobriety.

How will the worksheet help?

As you continue on the 12 step process you may feel that you are unsure how to engage with each step in a meaningful way. Due to the open manner that the program allows, you may be uncertain where to start or what practical activities you could use to help you during that step.

This worksheet offers you a few options of activities that you can use to work with this step in as much depth as possible, thus enriching your recovery process and journey over addiction.

How to use the worksheet?

In combination with NA/AA group meetings, look through the suggested activities that you can use to work with step 12. Remember that the program was created with the intention of having group meetings as a key element, therefore, they are important to include.

You may wish to keep a notebook or journal throughout this process for reflections, questions, thoughts, activities, and encouraging experiences.
