What is the theory behind the worksheet?

The theoretical foundation of this approach is based on Albert Bandura’s social learning theory, which postulates that people learn behaviors by observing, imitating, and receiving reinforcement.

Social skills are important to help individuals gain proper interpersonal relationships and interact appropriately.

How will the worksheet help?

The worksheet is intended to provide a systematic framework through which youth can acquire and rehearse social skills. It helps to reflect on the actions and interactions of the youths towards others, this will lead to one gaining an understanding of themselves.

Using the worksheet is helpful because it provides practice and repetition in practicing positive social behaviors, and it also addresses the need for youth to be able to regulate their emotions in pro-social ways.

How to use the worksheet?

To complete the worksheet, first, provide a comfortable and non-judgmental atmosphere so that the youth will have no reservations when answering the questions posed.

Explain to them what the worksheet is for and also explain to them how this would assist in enhancing their social skills.

Lead the youth through the sections answering questions, and detailing information as required. Make the youth work through their problems so that they can self-reflect and determine how they can change.
