What is the theory behind the worksheet?

The rationale of the “The Heart Has a Job to Do” worksheet is based on the elements of emotional intelligence and narrative therapy.

Divided into two sections, the first section of the worksheet looks at emotional roles in terms of a heart shape while the second section provides personal responsibilities related to the heart.

This approach maintains that being able to understand and communicate emotions will equate to better emotional health and competence in social interactions.

In this way, people assign some roles to their heart and when they have assigned a series of jobs to it, they can study feelings more effectively.

How will the worksheet help?

The worksheet serves as a valuable tool by facilitating a deeper exploration of emotional roles individuals assume in their lives, such as caregiver, friend, and lover, among others, thereby promoting greater emotional self-awareness.

By labeling each section of the heart with associated emotions, individuals can better identify and understand the emotions linked to each role.

Additionally, by connecting these emotional sections with specific challenges and growth goals, the worksheet offers a structured approach to managing emotional difficulties.

Its visual nature encourages creativity and introspection, enabling individuals to delve into their emotional experiences and aspirations with greater depth and clarity.

How to use the worksheet?

  1. Identify 6 emotional roles that you play in life, as a child, friend, or lover, among others, thus promoting greater emotional self-awareness.
