What is the theory behind the Holiday Anxiety Worksheet?

Holiday season is often a source of anxiety and stress for many. Things may not go as planned and there is a lot of social interaction that can be anxiety provoking for some. There may also be disappointments and unexpected events that can tilt the mood  and feel of the entire holiday season. Other worries may include social obligations, financial concern, travelling hiccups etc. 

How will the worksheet help? 

This worksheet will help someone who experiences holiday anxiety to lay down their worries and fears onto paper so that they can better prepare themselves for what might come. This exercise will help them prepare for any unexpected events or disappointments that may end up ruining their holiday mood by having effective coping strategies in place. 

How to use the worksheet? 

Instruct the client to first write about what they are currently feeling as the new holiday season is approaching. Then tell them to write a mini to do list of things that are still left to be prepared. Then instruct them to think back on past experiences and write down how they can cope with any potential stressors and how they can make this holiday season better than the rest.
