A self soothing skit is a coping strategy to deal with stress and negative emotions. It is a collection of items that are calming and relaxing for an individual’s senses. It allows one to engage in positive experiences and helps move their focus away from the negativity or source of distress. 

How will the worksheet help?

This worksheet can help clients develop their own self-soothe kit for when in need. It will help them list down items that they can easily manage to collect to put in their actual self-soothing kit based on what they find the most calming and relaxing. They can also revisit the worksheet to add or remove items as per their choice. 

How to use this worksheet?

Instruct the client to list down items that are easily available to them or easy to buy if needed in each of the columns representing the five senses. Tell them the items have to be something that is calming and relaxing for that particular sense from their prior experiences. They can add or remove items as they continue to explore what works and what does not.
