What is the theory behind this Attachment-based family therapy worksheet?

Attachment-Based Family Therapy is a treatment method for depression and dealing with suicidal tendencies in adolescents. This therapeutic approach helps in building an empathetic parent-child relationship. When teenagers do not feel comfortable and safe in their home environment, they tend to adapt negative coping mechanisms to deal with their stressors. This treatment method provides a solution to these family issues so that young individuals feel safe and secure going to their parents for support. Attachment-Based Family Therapy accomplishes five tasks: 1) The Relational Reframe; 2) Adolescent Alliance; 3) Parent Alliance; 4) Repairing Attachment; and 5) Promoting Autonomy.
