What is the theory behind this Being Kind Worksheet?

It is important to teach kindness to kids from a young age if we want them to grow up to be empathetic and compassionate human beings. Kindness is a crucial socioemotional skill that not only generates positive emotions within the giver but also fosters positive relationships with others. Encouraging a kind classroom environment will also ensure the children feel safe and valued, which can enhance their self-confidence and ultimately reflect well on their work.

How will the worksheet help?

This worksheet is based on a fun interactive game of ‘Kindness Bingo’. It will allow the counsellor or teacher to discuss everyday actions that show kindness. The goal of completing kindness tasks to achieve ‘BINGO’ will serve as a motivator for them to engage in those acts of kindness, teaching them to put their words into action.

How to use the worksheet?

This worksheet can be used in classroom or group therapy settings for young kids who are being taught socio-emotional skills. Discuss the many ways through which one can show kindness and have the children fill out their bingo cards. Once completed, their goal is to do at least 5 tasks horizontally, vertically or diagonally to be able to achieve BINGO!
