What is the theory behind this Bipolar Worksheet?

Bipolar Disorder is characterized by recurring intense emotional highs and lows. In the high phase also called the manic phase they experience various symptoms that are indicative of an abnormally happy or elated state. While the low phase is characteristic of depressive symptoms. In between, they can experience neutral states but any stressors or triggers can push them into either state.

How will the worksheet help?

The worksheet can help clients seeking help for a bipolar diagnosis to keep track of the varying states of their mood as a way of knowing how they think, feel, and act in each. This information can be vital in planning effective coping strategies and also provide clues about warning signs and potential triggers.

How to use the worksheet?

Instruct the client to be aware of how their mood is and note down important details in the table in the worksheet. Tell them to note down their thoughts, feelings, behavior, and any other specific details at times when they feel high, or low, beginning to feel high and low, and when they are in a neutral mood.
