What is the theory behind this Body Acceptance Worksheet?

Body acceptance, also called body positivity, is a mindset reflecting an individual’s complete acceptance of their physical bodily features just as they are without any judgements. Body acceptance is so much more than just acceptance of physical features but also full acknowledgement of how one’s body functions and serves to the best of its ability. One’s confidence and self-esteem is highly dependent on their body image. 

How will the worksheet help?

This worksheet will help build body acceptance in clients who are struggling with negative body image issues that are ultimately affecting their mental and physical health. It will help them focus on all the positive aspects of their body so that they feel more confident in their own skin. 

How to use this worksheet?

Instruct the client to bring their focus to all the positive aspects of their body and write about their own favourite features and how their body helps them. They have to write down five positive affirmations that they can use to enhance body acceptance. Tell them to refer to the worksheet whenever they negative body image thoughts arise.
