What is the theory behind this Body Image Therapy Worksheet?

Body Image Therapy deals with issues related to perceptions and attitudes that people hold towards their own bodies. Having a negative body image can lead to many emotional issues such as low self-esteem and confidence which in turn affects how one interacts with others and deals with day to day activities.  Cognitive Behavioural therapy identifies and addresses an individual’s faulty thought processes regarding their body image.

How will the worksheet help?

This worksheet will help therapists identify their client’s thought processes behind their body image issues. It will specify which particular aspects of their bodies make them unhappy and what they want to change about it. It will also help highlight how they think it would make them feel.. 

How to use the worksheet?

Instruct the client to write about the aspects of their physical bodies that they are unhappy with and would like to change.Tell them to write about what they would like to change about it, why they think it is necessary and how changing it would make them feel.
