What is the theory behind this CBT Catastrophizing Worksheet?

There are many cognitive errors explained in cbt among them catastrophization is one of the most common errors that is used most frequently in daily living. In this error, people think about the worst possible outcome and believe that it will happen to them. This thinking error generates a pessimistic view of the outcome and emerges negative emotions that lead to distress. People with this thinking error often indulge in overthinking and disturbed sleep is also associated with it.

After identifying the realistic outcome ask them to go with it rather than going with the best or worst-case scenario.
