What is the theory behind this CBT hot thoughts worksheet?

In cognitive behavioral therapy CBT, hot thoughts are negatively formed beliefs that individuals have when they are experiencing negative feelings and emotions as a result of a specific event. Thought records help a person feel better by first helping the person to identify or catch these hot thoughts.

How will the worksheet help?    

This worksheet will enable the clients to record their thoughts and feelings. Thought records help the clients in identifying or catching these hot thoughts then cool them down with alternative ones. 

How to use this worksheet?

To use this worksheet, write responses to the questions below in order to find the hot thought. After checking for the rationality of this thought, write an alternative cool one. Do this for every hot thought that occurs.
