Reflection is the examination of one’s own conscious thoughts and feelings.
Couples’ reflection is a skill intended to check in with your partner about what was said and make meaning of it.
What Are The Theories Behind This Worksheet?
Dewey’s Reflective Learning Theory elaborates on reflection as a useful tool for making sense of situations or events that are puzzling or hard to explain.
When couples reflect; they recall a particular event, pose questions as to why things turned out the way they did and provide a possible action.
Schon’s Reflective Learning Theory uncovers hidden knowledge that is a common basis of our unconscious actions. There are two varieties of reflection;
- Reflection-on-action: occurs after an experience.
- Reflection-in-action: occurs during an experience.
