DEATH ANXIETY WORKSHEET

Death anxiety is a form of anxiety characterized by fear of one’s own death or the process of dying. It is commonly referred to as Thanatophobia.

Death anxiety is not a distinct disorder but may be linked to other depression or anxiety disorders including post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), panic disorders and panic attacks, or illness anxiety disorders also known as hypochondriasis.

  1. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) 

CBT is a type of psychotherapy used to help individuals identify negative thought patterns, learn how to regulate responses to anxiety-producing situations, and develop healthy coping strategies.

  1. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) 

This is a type of talking therapy specifically adapted to treat individuals who suffer from extremely intense emotions.

  1. Exposure Therapy

This therapy gradually exposes individuals to places, thoughts, or situations that relate to death.

  1. Art Therapy

This therapy is used to help individuals manage stress and express themselves without verbal communication (e.g., painting, drawing). Research shows that art therapy has a positive effect on individuals with anxiety.
