Uncertainty is an inevitable part of life since no one can ever be sure of what the future brings, making embracing it the only option available. Avoidance would only make things worse. Embracing would mean one can prepare themselves both mentally and physically to face whatever the future might bring. If not, it only fuels unnecessary worry and distress about what cannot be controlled.
How will the worksheet help?
This worksheet will help clients prepare themselves for whatever they fear about the uncertain future instead of spending their energy on worrying about it. This exercise will help them learn how they can train their minds to focus on what they can control instead of what they cannot control.
How to use this worksheet?
Instruct the client to reflect on what they truly fear or worry about uncertainty and write it down. They must then write about how much of that uncertainty is in their control and what they can do about it. They must also write down how they can comfort themselves if the uncertainty is not in their control.
