What is the theory behind the Family Dynamic Worksheet?
Family dynamic refers to how family members interact with, relate to and form bonds with each other. Family dynamics strongly influence one’s beliefs, values and opinions about the self, others and the world in general. It also determines the overall wellbeing of all the family members involved. Research has studied family dynamics in relation to many aspects of both physical and psychological health outcomes.
How will the worksheet help?
This worksheet will help therapists get an idea about the family dynamics of a client. The client will be able to fill in information about their closeness or attachment to their family members and general aspects of family dynamics that can be useful in understanding what sort of family environment the client has at home.
How to use the worksheet?
Instruct the client to first write down the family members that they currently live with then identify their closeness to them using a scale of 1 – 10. After this, they have to continue answering some general questions related to their family. Discuss the responses with the client, and evaluate insights. Properly debrief the client about this worksheet.
