What is the theory behind this Focus Worksheet?
Oftentimes it is necessary to remind clients about their goals, aspirations and good qualities to shift their focus from all the negativity surrounding their problems. A key aim of positive psychology is to help clients embrace and acknowledge their positive qualities and traits as a way to help them cope better with daily life stressors.
How will the worksheet help?
The worksheet will help clients to take a moment and bring back their focus to their goals, aspiration, values, positive qualities and traits. This worksheet can be particularly helpful when teaching clients to become more resilient and believe in their abilities to be able to cope with whatever life throws at them. It will help them realise all they have to do is bring their focus back on the good and what values to them the most.
How to use the worksheet?
Instruct the client to complete this worksheet in a calm and relaxed state preferably after a mindfulness session. Tell them to take a breath, close their eyes and bring themselves to focus on all the various aspects as mentioned in the worksheet and make a note of them. Tell them to place the worksheet in plain sight where they can view it everyday.
