What is the theory behind Internal vs External Motivation in the recovery worksheet?

Motivations are of two types. Internal or intrinsic and external or extrinsic. Internal motivation is that which motivates us to do tasks that come from within us. Whereas, external motivation is the one in which external pressure is involved. Identifying your motivations, rewards, and punishment helps you in identifying the reasons behind your goals and gives you direction.
