Lack of motivation worksheet

What is the theory behind this worksheet?

Motivation must be unique to everyone in terms of their values and interests. The underlying theory is the “Self-determination theory” by Ryan and Deci,2000 which focuses on intrinsic motivation and the need for autonomy, competence, and relatedness. The corresponding therapeutic techniques may include:

  • Motivational Interviewing: It is a client-centered, collaborative, and goal-oriented style of counseling method that is designed to strengthen personal motivation and commitment to a specific goal by eliciting and exploring the personal reasons for that change.
  • Cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT): Examines thought patterns and behavior to identify and change negative thinking and habits.
  • Goal-Setting Theory: Encourages setting specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound (SMART) goals.
