What is the theory behind this Mental health coloring worksheet?

Mandalas have a diverse cultural background, and were introduced into the world of psychology by Carl Jung. Coloring mandalas is used as an intervention in Art Therapy. Mandalas allow individuals to express their feelings in a creative and non-threatening way. They are also linked with positive mental health outcomes.

How will the worksheet help?

Coloring mandalas is found to be calming and relief-inducing. Filling the page with different colors will provide a safe outlet to intense feelings.  Primarily, interacting with the empty spaces through color helps in releasing emotional blockages.

How to use this worksheet?

A pre-drawn Mandala (Picture of a horse) is provided in this worksheet. Print it and ask the clients to fill it with the color of their choice with a color pencil or crayon. Obtain feedback after the client completes the activity.
