What is the theory behind this OCPD Worksheet?
Obsessive Compulsive Personality Disorder is characterised by an intense and continual need to meet certain standards of perfection in one’s life. OCPD manifests in all aspects of one’s life to varying degrees causing significant impairment in everyday functioning. People with OCPD can appear particularly rigid in following certain rules and strive for perfection at the expense of their own health.
How will the worksheet help?
This worksheet can help clients test their beliefs regarding following certain rules and being rigid in their routines and pursuit of perfectionism using behavioural experiments. It will help them structure behavioural experiments that they can use to test their irrational beliefs that are maintaining their rigid and perfectionist tendencies..
How to use this worksheet?
Instruct the client to begin by writing down any one belief or assumption that drives them to maintain their rigid schedules and pursuit of perfectionism.. Then instruct them to design an experiment with specific details on how they will put it to test. Based on their already held beliefs they must predict an outcome then compare it with what actually happened and finally end the experiment with their own learning and observations.
