Nowadays self-esteem is considered to be one of the most important components of personality. A healthy self-esteem can enhance a person’s potential and help them achieve something in their life. Clients must identify their internal critique which generates negative thoughts and prevent clients from achieving what they want. Reshaping cognitions to develop positive self-talk is very important to boost one’s self-esteem and it helps deal with difficult situations. 

How will the worksheet help?

Thinking has a great impact on one’s actions. It has been found that our behavior is highly impacted by our thoughts. This worksheet can help clients identify their internal critique. It  will help the client cope with difficult situations by generating positive thoughts. It will enhance the client’s problem-solving and the client can have another perspective of looking towards situations.  

How to use the worksheet?

This worksheet is helpful for the client and practitioners to identify the maladaptive negative thoughts which impact their functioning and negatively affect their confidence. Instruct the client to write down the situation which triggers negative thinking. Later they can write their negative thoughts that pop into that situation. Ask the client to think about the situation from another perspective and ask them to generate positive thoughts out of it. If clients are unable to generate positive thoughts help them with only the first one. It is encouraged that clients generate alternate thoughts by themselves to avoid dependency on the therapist
