PTSD is a psychological disorder that occurs when exposed to or witnessed a severely traumatic event.  It can have long-term effects which include symptoms like flashbacks, hypervigilance, anxiety, and fear of the event occurring again. In such conditions, people start using drugs as a way of coping skills and escaping from their trauma. However, treating PTSD symptoms can help individuals recover from their drug addiction.
