Self-forgiveness is a much needed skill to have if one ever wants to move on from their mistakes. It is the only way to protect one’s mental health from self-criticism and self-blame which can further hamper any chances of moving on. Self-forgiveness is specially needed in recovery from drug and alcohol abuse otherwise the resulting negative emotions such as shame and guilt can cause relapse or addiction to worsen.

Also instruct them to place the worksheet somewhere they can see everyday as a reminder of their self-forgiveness journey.
