Video & audio overview of the worksheet

What is the theory behind the worksheet?

Sensory processing and regulation are important for individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder. By ensuring that you are regulated, you can minimize meltdowns, tantrums, and general anxiety.

However, not all environments are conducive for sensory regulation, therefore, being prepared and having resources close by to assist you will ensure that you are always prepared to support yourself when dysregulation or overstimulation occurs.

How will the worksheet help?

This worksheet allows you to plan ahead and be prepared for any overstimulation you may experience. By creating a sensory box (or multiple sensory boxes for different places), you are ensuring that you have the necessary tools to assist you in future events.

This worksheet allows you to think about what items you would include in your sensory box.

How to use the worksheet?

Using the guidelines provided you can think about different sensory items that support you. This is a good way to plan what would go into your sensory box.

Once you have this plan, you can gather the items together to create your box. Remember to have fun with this activity.
