Sibling Rivalry Therapy Worksheet
What is the theory behind this Sibling Rivalry Therapy Worksheet?
In family therapy it is very important to not just focus on the parent-child relationship but also sibling relationships. Siblings are one of the important early relationships that can determine how well one develops social-emotional and interpersonal interaction skills. It is important to address any conflicts arising in this relationship as they can significantly impact one’s mental and emotional health.
How will the worksheet help?
This worksheet will help siblings seeking family therapy to determine their own and the other person’s actions that fuel conflict and rivalry between them. Identifying these problems can help them see things from the other person’s perspective and also determine a course of action that can prevent future conflicts and foster a healthy relationship.
How to use the worksheet?
Instruct the siblings to first write what behaviour of theirs they think initiates conflict and then write the same for the other person’s behaviour. One worksheet is to be used for one sibling. Compare the responses in session and discuss a plan of action to resolve conflicts.
