Sleep Therapy Worksheet

What is the theory behind this Sleep Therapy Worksheet?

Sleep therapy helps clients improve the quality of their sleep by addressing various sleep related difficulties. Along with maintaining good sleep hygiene and using sleep restriction intervention, clients are taught ‘stimulus control’ techniques as well. The aim of these techniques is to use one’s bed only for sleeping so that it strengthens the association between the two.

How will the worksheet help?

This worksheet will help educate clients about how to follow ‘stimulus control’ techniques. This will help break any negative associations one may have with their bed at the time of sleep and instead strengthen the association between the bed and sleepiness. It will help them develop habits that ensure they use their bed only when going to sleep.

How to use the worksheet?

This worksheet can be used as an information handout in the psychoeducation part of sleep therapy. It can be used both as an education tool and a reminder for the client to incorporate these techniques in their daily routine. Instruct the client to follow the given rules and comment about what they observed as a result.
