What is the theory behind this Therapy Worksheet for 8 year olds?

Anxiety is just as uncomfortable for children as it is for adults. Unlike adults, children may not be able to identify or understand it without proper guidance. It is important to start teaching kids about the different kinds of emotional states and how to cope with those that make them uncomfortable. Working on developing children’s emotional intelligence can positively impact their relationships, behaviours and even attention skills.

How will the worksheet help?

The worksheet will help kids identify the physical symptoms that accompany their anxiety. It will not only help them become more observant of their body cues but also be able to differentiate between the physical symptoms of different emotional states.

How to use the worksheet?

This activity can be used in group settings or individual settings as part of programs aimed at developing emotional awareness in young kids. Once children have understood what anxiety is and what triggers it, instruct them to circle the areas on the body silhouette where they ‘feel’ anxiety. Tell them to point out which part of their body is affected by anxiety.
