Trauma Triggers Worksheet

What is the theory behind this Trauma Triggers Worksheet?

A trauma trigger refers to any thing that causes an individual to relive the pain and discomfort associated with their traumatic past. The trigger can be anything such as a stimulus in the environment or one’s own internal thoughts or emotional states. It may not even be directly associated with the traumatic event in the past but forces an individual to remember a certain aspect of the traumatic incident.

How will the worksheet help?

This worksheet will help clients make a list of what triggers their traumatic memories. It will require them to be observant of what situations trigger their trauma which can help them to plan how to cope with them effectively. Knowing which triggers they need to avoid or learn to overcome is essential to their healing process.

How to use the worksheet?

Instruct the client to be observant of the situations where they are reminded of their traumatic past and its associated negative thoughts and emotions. Then tell them to list down those triggers according to the different types as mentioned in the worksheet.
