What is the theory behind this Weather and Emotions Worksheet?

A part of emotional literacy and emotion regulation skill training is the ability to identify the factors that determine or may predict certain emotional reactions. This can help an individual be prepared to deal with their emotions beforehand. Among the many factors that can influence one’s emotions is the kind of weather and how they perceive it. For example while some people may feel happy on a rainy day others might feel like it makes them too sad.

How will the worksheet help?

The worksheet can help individuals relate their emotion to common weather conditions that they have to encounter on a day to day basis. Knowing how the weather might affect their emotions, can help them deal with them effectively. A forecast of favourable weather can enhance their productivity while a forecast of unfavourable weather can warn them to keep their coping skills handy.

How to use the worksheet?

This worksheet can be used as part of emotional literacy and emotional regulation training for ages 15 and above. It can also be used in therapy while teaching coping skills to manage one’s emotions. Instruct the individual to write down some common weather conditions that they are mostly exposed to and how they make them feel.
