Down syndrome is a genetic condition that occurs if a child is born with an extra chromosome. This condition affects how the child’s brain and body develop. This leads to many developmental delays, IQ problems as well as physical and medical issues. The intellectual difficulties may vary from mild to moderate level. To gain some independence, individuals with down syndrome need occupational therapy. They also need psychotherapy because of their emotional problems like impulsivity, temper tantrums or stubbornness etc.
