The fear of flying (also called aerophobia) is an anxiety disorder that involves an extreme fear of flying in a plane. There is no specific cause related to aerophobia, as the fear usually originates from a combination of factors or triggers.

People with aerophobia are scared about different aspects of flying, such as take-off, landing, or getting locked in the plane. Most people usually experience panic attacks before or during a flight. Other major symptoms include;

  • Heart palpitation
  • Excessive sweating
  • Trembling or shaking
  • Shortness of breath
