What is the theory behind this ABA THERAPY WORKSHEET?
Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapy is based on the principles of operant conditioning which proposes the use of rewards and consequences to alter behaviour patterns. It has mostly been used as a preferred treatment method for teaching a variety of necessary skills and reducing problematic behaviours through positive reinforcement in children with autism. But it can also be used for behavioural issues with or without a psychiatric diagnosis.
How will the worksheet help?
The worksheet is based on a ‘Token Board’ system that encourages behaviour change by rewarding the desired behaviour with tokens that the child can collect to receive their desired reinforcer. It can be anything that can serve as a motivator for them to repeat the desired behaviour to earn the required amount of tokens.
How to use the worksheet?
This worksheet can be pasted where it is easily visible on a daily basis. Before beginning, make sure the child is clear about three things: the desired behaviour that is expected from them, their ultimate prize and the number of tokens they need to get it. Tell them to colour a star when they ‘collect’ a token.
