CBT Mood Log Worksheet
What is the theory behind this CBT Mood Log Worksheet?
A Mood Log is a tool used in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to help clients keep track of their emotions on a daily basis. This practice helps them identify and link their mood and emotions to the surrounding circumstances which is very useful information to determine what thoughts or situations trigger a bad or a good mood. Identifying these triggers is a crucial part of CBT where clients can then learn how to deal with them effectively.
How will the worksheet help?
This worksheet will provide a basic Mood Log template that clients can use to keep track of their emotions on a daily basis. They will not just track their emotions but also explain why they may be feeling that way so as to gather important information about the thoughts and situations that are triggering negative emotions.
How to use the worksheet?
Instruct the client to notice and name their emotions and rate their intensity at the given timings in the worksheet. Instruct them to also write down why they are feeling that way based on any significant events that happened prior to or at the time of them recording their emotions.
