What is the theory behind this Co-dependency Worksheet for Group Therapy?
Term codependency can be explained as an extreme need for emotional and psychological support from anyone who feels vulnerable and emotionally overwhelmed when help is not there. Basically, people who have codependency on anyone whey develop fear, and if that person will leave them how do they will manage to have that emotional support? This fear leads them to the expression of maladaptive behavior and experience emotional distress
How will the worksheet help?
This worksheet can help clients assess their codependency behavior that is creating emotional and interpersonal relational distress. It gives clients knowledge about all the maladaptive behavioral patterns and they can identify their cognitions and emotions behind them. They can then share their individual responses with the group.
How to use the worksheet?
This worksheet is helpful for the client and practitioners to identify all the codependency attitudes in a group setting. It is recommended that the worksheet should be filled by a client themselves. Instruct the client to mention their unhealthy behaviors because of fear of losing something or someone. Then mention their thoughts that lead to the expression of such behavior and identify their emotions at that time. After assessing all the behavior they can brainstorm alternate healthy behaviors in a group setting to reduce codependency. Through this worksheet, clients can have an insight into their maladaptive behavior.
