Cognitive linguistics is a branch of linguistics that examines the relationship between language and the mind.
Language is thought of as one of the human cognitive abilities providing insight into the nature, structure, and organization of thoughts and ideas.
Stronger language skills mean stronger cognitive skills.
What Are The Theories Behind This Worksheet?
Cognitive linguistics theory emphasises that human cognitive abilities are able to use language as a tool to organize and process thoughts and communicate these thoughts with others.
Cognitive linguistic therapy is used to help patients who are having problems resulting from events such as a stroke, traumatic brain injury, or as a result of a progressive neurological condition (e.g., dementia).
Additionally, it can also be used for patients with communication difficulties/ impaired cognition/ or patients with an altered cognitive state.
