A core value can be defined as an enduring belief upon which a person acts. 

Values are a guiding light that leads people to a more meaningful and fulfilling life.

Core values drive behaviour, form beliefs and facilitate the decision-making process.

What Are The Theories Behind This Worksheet?

The theory of core values serves as a standard for evaluating people, actions, or events. These values become saturated with emotions once we activate them in our everyday life.

The theory of core values also forms a circular structure that reflects the motivations each value expresses which can be categorized into two groups;

  1. Terminal 

These values are all about our desirable end states (e.g., health, freedom).

  1. Instrumental

These values are about the desirable ways to act or behave (e.g., honesty, responsible).
