Cross Addiction Worksheet

What is the theory behind this Cross Addiction Worksheet?

Cross Addiction is a condition where an individual who is in the process of recovering from one addiction or compulsive behavior ends up substituting it with another addiction or compulsive behavior. They could transfer their addictions or compulsions from one substance to another or one unhealthy activity to another. It is crucial that recovering individuals are monitored for cross addictions throughout their recovery journey.

How will the worksheet help?

This worksheet will help individuals who have developed cross addictions to reflect on the various similarities and differences between their previous and new addictions. It will help them and the therapist identify unhealthy patterns of thoughts and behaviors contributing to their addictions that can be taken into consideration when reformulating a treatment plan.

How to use the worksheet?

This worksheet can be used in addiction recovery for individuals who have begun to show signs of cross addictions. Intrust them to reflect on the underlying thoughts, behaviors, emotions and triggers that caused them to transition to their newly developed addiction and how it differs to what they had discovered about their prior addiction.
