What is the theory behind this Gender-Based Violence Worksheet?
Gender-based violence refers to all types of violent abuse inflicted on an individual solely based on their gender. The term is primarily used for abuse against the female gender but is also meant for male victims of abuse as well. This violence can manifest in many ways, though all of them in one way or another other are a result of the abusers’ need to exert power and control.
How will the worksheet help?
This worksheet can help educate the general public about what violence may look like. This awareness alone can help many individuals recognize the signs of being abused and may be motivated to reach out and seek help. It will use a ‘Power and Control Wheel’ to help educate about the many faces of violence one may be a victim of.
How to use the worksheet?
This worksheet can be used in mental health awareness programs for the general public especially in schools and workplaces. Individuals can read through the power and control wheel to become aware of what violence can look like so that they are able to recognize it in their life or that of others around them. Awareness at the right time can increase the chances of seeking the right help.
