Getting To Know Your Partner Worksheet

Video & audio overview of the worksheet

What is the theory behind the worksheet?

The Gottham approach to couple counseling involves a variety of steps. One of the steps is really getting to know your partner. This can be done in the beginning of the relationship – or even in the middle of it!

Knowing more about your partner helps you understand them and the reasoning behind their thoughts and actions. This increases the empathy that you feel toward them and helps you choose the best possible interactions. Enhanced communication in a relationship is important for it to continue to develop healthily.

How will the worksheet help?

This worksheet outlines a method of getting to know your partner in a multi-faceted manner – not just the surface-level information. The more detail you can add to the map, the closer you can feel to your partner.

Getting to know your partner better helps you create goals as a couple and build a strong foundation for your relationship.

How to use the worksheet?

This is a great activity to do together over a few days. Think of questions you can ask your partner to help you add details, observe them more closely, and approach each new interaction with excited curiosity.

This should be an enjoyable activity that builds a stronger connection.
