What is the theory behind this Substance abuse worksheet?

The use of alcohol, illegal drugs, or over-the-counter medications for purposes other than those for which they were prescribed, or in excess is called substance abuse. Problems with substance abuse can be social, physical, emotional, and employment-related. The most often utilised types of therapy are counselling and other behavioural therapies.  

How will the worksheet help?

For all elements of recovery, especially when treating drug abuse, setting values and goals and developing plans and tactics to attain them are crucial. This worksheet helps the client to make achievable substance abuse goals. 

How to use the worksheet?  

During the session, the therapist provides the worksheet to the client and assists him/her in setting goals.

Now when you have decided and written your goals. Let’s modify these goals to “SMART” goals to make them easier to acheive.
