What is the theory behind this Thinking mistakes worksheet?

Thinking Errors are also known as Cognitive Distortions. These are unrealistic and extreme ways of thinking that can cause mental and emotional distress. They are the root cause of all psychological disorders. The main aim of psychotherapy is to work on these cognitive distortions for improved mental well-being.
