What is the theory behind this Understanding PTSD Worksheet?

Post Traumatic Stress Disorder is an intense long term reaction to being directly or indirectly exposed to traumatic events that threaten one’s emotional, physical and mental well-being. It is characterised by frequent  intrusive memories, flashbacks and nightmares of the said event along with anxious thoughts and feelings. Any traumatic event can cause an individual to experience trauma symptoms but when they become persistent and hinder one’s ability to function, it has to be diagnosed and treated as PTSD.
