CBT Strengths Worksheet
What is the theory behind this CBT Strengths Worksheet?
Strength based Cognitive Behavioral therapy believes that all individuals possess inherent strengths that need to be brought to their awareness so that they are better able to cope with life’s stressors. A therapist can guide the client through the process of helping them realise their personal strengths and resources so they can effectively use them in face of difficult situations and change their perspective on life from negative to positive.
How will the worksheet help?
This worksheet will prompt clients to think about their personal strengths and qualities in any two areas of their choice. Giving the client the liberty to choose the domain can help in identifying where they believe their strengths lie. The areas they do not choose can then become subject to further probing as to why they think their strengths may be lacking.
How to use the worksheet?
This worksheet can be used in the initial session of Strength-Based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy where the therapist wants to get an idea about the client’s perspective of their own qualities in any two domains of their lives where they think their strengths lie. Instruct them to also write about how they came to find that they had those particular strengths.
