What is the theory behind this CBT Thought Feelings Action Worksheet?

School going kids can benefit greatly from activities that are based on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. School counsellors can use the core concept of CBT about how our thoughts, feelings  and actions are interconnected to teach young minds about the importance of being mindful of one’s thoughts. 

How will the worksheet help?

This worksheet can help young students to understand how their thoughts, feelings and actions are interconnected and how powerful their thoughts actually are. Teaching this concept from an early age can help them apply it in their real life well into adulthood and reap its benefits. It can serve as a buffer against daily life stressors which may otherwise lead to mental health issues in later life. 

How to use the worksheet?

School counsellors can use this worksheet in group sessions, workshops or even individual sessions depending on where they need it. It is suitable for ages 9 and above.Instruct the students to imagine themselves having the given thoughts and then write how it would make them feel and act.
