Relationship Vision Worksheet

What is the theory behind this Relationship Vision Worksheet?

Relationship Vision is an effective tool that couples can use to mutually decide on shared goals and aspirations that they can work towards achieving together. These goals can be about the kind of relationship they are seeking or even experiences that they wish to share as a couple. The purpose is to encourage open communication and an opportunity to find out the needs and wants of the other while also evaluating their actions.

How will the worksheet help?

This worksheet will help couples write down what their vision is of a loving relationship. Responses will then be swapped for each to rate the importance of the other’s vision points so that together they can work on highlighting the things that matter the most to both of them. This exercise will help them learn about the other’s perspective and motivate them to reflect on their behaviour and where they fall short.

How to use the worksheet?

Give a copy of the worksheet to both partners and ask them to write down at least 10 short sentences that portray their vision of what a loving and caring relationship should be like. Swap the worksheets and have each partner rate the other’s vision points from 1 – 10. Afterwards, highlight the highest rated points from both worksheets and tell the couple to write them in bold and place it somewhere they can easily view every day as a goal to work towards to achieve the kind of relationship they both want.
