Reunification Therapy Worksheet

What is the theory behind this Reunification therapy worksheet?

Family problems and marital relationship issues with parents affect children in multiple ways. It affects their expression of thoughts and emotions along with their self-esteem. When parents have marital issues children often feel neglected and think that their parents don’t care about them. These communication issues create tension in their relationship where individuals aren’t able to express themselves and maintain a distance from their parents which creates parent-child relationship issues. Reunification therapy is a specialized therapy to deal with parent-child relationship issues and all the related problems.

How to use the worksheet?

This worksheet is helpful for the client to do an emotional catharsis and help them express what they think and feel in a non-threatening way. Instruct the client to read statements carefully and complete the paragraph as they wish.  Encourage them to say what they think about that individual and write what they didn’t express because of fear of rejection or disapproval. After expressing all the thoughts ask the client to read and reflect on how they can say it in reality. Note that assertive training is necessary before encouraging them to express themselves.
